Why Should You Exist In A Photo?
Some may ask ‘Why such a strange question?’ On the contrary it’s not so strange.
I am a photographer and have been for a couple years, so usually I am the one behind the camera. And guess what? – I am quite contented being there! I love taking out photos – of friends, family and clients but, how many of our family pictures do you think I exist in? If you are like me, I’m sure we just pulled the same trump card – very little. I usually have to make a concerted effort to have my picture taken (special day – the clouds roll back and the angels sing – lol!).
In retrospect, I confess that I never understood the importance of capturing moments to continue my family history line. And especially now that I have two beautiful kids, I find myself wanting to capture every moment to remind me and them of times spent together, special occasions and to record the family history in visual form.
Now, it is one thing to exist in a photo and another if it’s not flattering or well composed – some may even say you didn’t exist at all! It feels great when you feel good about a photograph. One where you are engaged in the photo & look beautiful. You want to remember looking like that throughout generations! Feels good doesn’t it!
Bottom line is, you should exist in photos for…
1. Actually having a photograph of yourself.
2. Leaving something meaningful through future generations.
3. Preserving your memories.
4. Remembering how good you looked! Yeah!
Make an effort today, write your story and seal your memories with portraits.
